Summer is over - Water - Shaving and BBC
Summer is over and being too dark to ride my bike in the morning, I find that I have to work out before I get into the office. So far I find that I can get an hour in which seems to be good enough to keep feeling healthy.
Recently I read a mention of BBC show of a few years ago which stars David Tenennt (from Dr Who) .
The Show aired on BBC in 2004 (6 episodes ) and a follow up episode came out late last year. The title is Blackpool - the Sequel was titled Viva Blackpool
This show was well reviewed, and like many BBC shows has spawned a US version (which didn't do so well) The US version Viva Laughlin only lasted two episodes before the network pulled it.
The show is basically a murder mystery in a small seaside town.
The difference is the show is sort of Musical. The Actors break out in song at the beginning and end of the shows.. Sort of like Pennies from heaven.
Its refrshing to see this sort of style on Television.
Shaving..
For those of you who know me well I am big fan of the wet shave. Double edge safety razors and straight edge razors.
They have to be Sharp! and you need a good quality shaving soap.
Just as long as you don't use some aresol which sprays out of a can and disposable bic razors.
Twin blades - Trak II - Mach III etc etc are all CRAP .. You can beat the shave you get with either a straight edge or safety double edge.
Once you start on the quest for the words best shave, like with most other things in life you find that the deeper you go the more there is to find out.
Like the razors themselves .... some of the best ones come from Germany, but others from Israel, Korea, or Turkey are all good.
Shaving soaps....like George Thumper and Col Conk are much better than the total crap you can get at your local pharmacy. For me the best shaving soap I have been able to find
is Valobra
Which is a soft type soap molds easily into your shaving cup and smells of almond.
My next project involves soy wax somehow making candles Wish me luck
Bob
