In Ear Monitors Update
So I got my In Ear monitors from
Sensaphonics and I can truly say that
Ken Levy was right. I take the NYC Subway and Long Island railroad Every day to and from my office here in NYC. Standing outside at the Woodside railway station and not having to hear that sound is just Beautiful
The sound coming out of these doesn't have to be all that loud, as they completely seal the ear cannel so all you hear is at most a slight muffle of the overhead speaker. Today I was listening to
DJ River, who I can highly suggest.. If you like electronic - jazz - trance. Just the thing to get you in a good mood to home with.
The First fitting was not perfect, but that is not a problem I am taking a new ear casting to get them perfect.

After getting home from Prague I thought I would write out some thoughts about the conference, the attendance, VFP - and the recently announced Sedna Project, and Prague in General.
Many of you know that for the past few years I fly myself off to Prague for the annual VFP Devcon in the Czech republic. The reasons I choose Prague over Germany, the US Advisor Devcon, or the local Devcons (southwest for example) to be honest is Prague itself.
Sure the pricing for me to fly to Europe and pay 100 EU for the conference - as compared to the US Advisor devcon at 1300 USD. it makes financial sense. It ends up costing less to go to Prague than attend a devcon in Las Vegas. ! But the real reason I attend Prague is the city itself.

Onto the Devcon itself,
The big announcement came in the statement made by Ken Levy (and yes we doubled czech'd his wording that Sedna is the the next VFP.... We thought me mis understood him for a moment but trapped him the corridor later.. to confirm.. Did he mean to say that.. ? What about what
Craig Bernsten posted on his blog Ken knew of the blog, and pointed out that it had been updated, and Craigs opinion had changed.
Ken did say that nothing was firm as far as a number like VFP 10.. But that we as developers should not be so concerned about the name of the product, but more of what the product will enable us to do in the future.
So no commitment on a VFP 10 but the good news was .. There is 2 more years on a the continued development of the product whatever the name of it it will end up being. (
Senda, is or might be a working title of the product)
Being the product is two years out, nothing firm is set for the what it will and wont do, All that was really mentioned was that MS will be getting Beta's more frequently than they had done in the past.
This year attending from Microsoft was
Randy Brown
Richard Stanton -who wrote much of the the new VFP9 report writer..
and of course
Ken Levy
Here are some pictures of the conference and the aread

Rio Karma -My New Toy
Its getting closer to my yearly trek to Prague. This year like last I felt like buying something fun for the trip. Last year It was my Panasonic digital camera. Which by the way I still love, with its 12x Zoom and Leica Lens's .
This year I thought what could go better with my new headphones than a new MP3 , portable music player. But what model.
A few brands seem to dominate the market
Apple (ipod)
Sony
Creative Labs
I-River
Digital Networks (Rio)
Samsung
I had been using my Ipaq with a 512 meg sd ram card for music. While it did work good, there are something thing inherently wrong with using a Pocket PC as a music player.
Batter Life, Size of Storage, Lack of eq
The IPAQ is a good device, But as a High Quality MP3 or OGG player.. Its not. Happens to play wmv files and Mp3 files, but the device is more used a general purpose handheld computer, than an actual music player.
My Last music player with the Sony MiniDisk NZ10. It worked ok, but it took time to convert the files to Atrac Format and then each MD holds only about 5 CD's . Sony's desktop application counted the number of times you recorded a track, to make sure you were not making too many copies. (forget sony)
Apple.. If I wanted to follow the crowd.. Then I would consider them.... But na.. Couldn't see myself doing that.
That left
Creative Labs - IRiver and Digital Networks (Rio)
For me the mix of features and price made the decision for me.
The Rio Karma. Now that its here.. I love it. The sound quality, the size of disk, the ease of use. The thing has network card so in my home network I can put files on it, without the need to use a usb cable.
One thing I also love is the little red eraser head. Reminds me of my thinkpad.
