In Ear Monitors WOW What a concept

After recently reading this blog from Ken Levy.. I knew he had tapped into something I needed to know more about. The concept of In Ear Monitors sounds like something from George Carlin, like "Shell Shock" to "Post dramatic Stress Disorder" headphones are headphones.. But then I kept reading....

For months I have been doing google searches on Headphones scouring eBay for something new out of Japan, anything which would actually make my subway ride a bit more stress free. I also wanted to have them small.

The same names always came up :
Sony
Etymotic
Bose

While people swear by their Bose, I couldn't see myself on a subway wearing them. No matter how good the sound was. The Sony's I already own and begun to understand why in ear was so much better than anything sitting outside the ear.. Etymotic seemed like the leader of the group. But still nothing to write a blog about.

Then Ken Levy's Blog changed everything. A new world of headphone comfort and clarity should be in store for me. Today I am off to have a ear casting done to get my very own In Ear monitors . Mine happen to be from Sensaphonics Who happen to make custom ear molds for your etymotic if you are on a budget, but want the comfort of a custom ear bud. The prosonic soft2x are made from a soft silicone where the ones Ken talks about are made from a hard acrylic. I am sure both are good. We will see in a few weeks when mine come in.
